A while back I read (most of) ‘the 5am club’. I say most of, whilst I love a self help book which is built around story telling, I ended up finding it pretty excruciating; so I gave up.
But the gist of the book – unsurprisingly – (and in danger of wildly over simplifying it) is the importance of setting up your day in the best way possible – and how you maximise that first hour of the day to do so – through exercise, meditation, reflection and learning.
I’ve always tended to be a morning person – and I really subscribe to the principles the book is lauding; but right now, dragging myself out of bed at 5am is a challenge.
It also talks about habit creation – and whilst it’s inevitably tough at the start, in time it becomes the norm… I certainly feel a long way off that at the moment.
